I am truly delighted to be partnering closely with colleagues from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) in organising this special event. The CAPA Conference has historically been referred to as the ‘regional accountancy Olympics’ since it is staged approximately every four years. How apt that our 20th Conference will be staged in the same year as the Summer Olympics held recently, also in Asia Pacific in Tokyo, Japan. Interestingly, both of these events were initially scheduled for 2020, but due to the health pandemic, had to be deferred by one year.
The deferral may prove to be blessing, since it has given everyone the time to fine-tune how virtual events are staged. Similar to the Tokyo Olympics, attending the event in-person is not possible for international delegates, however the world has changed and such events can now be staged virtually. This will be the first of possibly many CAPA Conferences where the conference is brought to the delegate, rather than requiring the delegate to travel to the conference.
This scenario is a very exciting development for CAPA, providing the opportunity to access a wider array of speakers and delegates, whilst reducing our carbon footprint. Aligning with the 42nd National Conference of Chartered Accountants also allows us to stage a truly international event, whilst ensuring of direct relevance to Sri Lanka and other countries in our region.
Accordingly, we are very grateful for the opportunity to team with CA Sri Lanka in this way. It has been thoroughly enjoyable to work with such professional colleagues as we designed the program, organised speakers and planned the event. Naturally, I am disappointed that I cannot be with those that do attend in-person and to spend some time in the beautiful country of Sri Lanka. Luckily, I have had the pleasure to visit a few times before and witness the many ‘wonders of the world’.
I hope the event meets the expectations of all delegates as we continue to build on the heritage of CAPA and CA Sri Lanka. Please enjoy!

As we convene for the 45th National Conference of CA Sri Lanka, themed "Marching Beyond Margins," I am reminded of the urgency and significance of our mission. This year, our focus is to explore and understand the profound shifts in global power, the rapid advancements in technology, and the dynamic changes across generations. Our goal is not just to keep pace with the world but to lead and innovate in how we govern and operate in this new era.
The theme "Marching Beyond Margins" is an invitation—an imperative—to transcend traditional boundaries and forge pathways in uncharted territories. Whether it's understanding global dynamics, harnessing the power of new technologies, or adapting to the evolving expectations of different generations, the need of the hour is clear. We must be bold, we must be innovative, and above all, we must be forward-thinking.
I extend my deepest gratitude to the President of our Institute, the Chairman of the National Conference Committee, and the dedicated CEO and staff of CA Sri Lanka. Your unwavering commitment and support have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. I also wish to thank my fellow members of the Technical Committee and everyone else who has supported our course. Your efforts and collaboration have been vital in shaping a conference that promises to be both enlightening and inspiring.
As we gather to share knowledge, discuss ideas, and build connections, let us all commit to this journey of growth and transformation. Together, let's march beyond the margins and redefine what's possible for ourselves and our profession.
Looking forward to a successful and transformative conference.

For over four decades, the National Conference of CA Sri Lanka has been a beacon of enlightenment for the corporate world, encouraging participants to push boundaries and tread fearlessly on unchartered territories.
This year, the Conference will renew focus on the need to move beyond the traditional boundaries. Our lives today are dictated by technological advancements, and we need to keep pace with developments to ensure our survival in the face of rapid changes. As always, the best manner to achieve success is to stay ahead of the curve by identifying the challenges and capitalizing on the opportunities.
CA Sri Lanka through the years has championed causes that are critical to our nation, and this year too, the conference is focusing on a theme that will greatly benefit in rebuilding the national economy.
As we work towards this aim, it is clear that we need to understand the present world better to excel in all the hitherto unseen opportunities it offers us. Understanding global dynamics, being aware of the generational divides and seeking to bridge it, embracing the digital realm, transitioning to renewable energy, and finding ways to integrate governance structures with emerging trends are just some of the ways in which we can ensure we are not left behind.
The National Conference of Chartered Accountants is known as the biggest business summit of Sri Lanka for a very valid reason. It is an event of national significance that brings together esteemed professionals to deliberate and find solutions to some of the pressing issues we face today. I look forward to welcoming you all in October!

The CA Sri Lanka National Conference is by now synonymous with knowledge expansion, valuable networking opportunities, and inspired thinking. This conference with the remarkable history of over four decades, has become a calendar event that is an essential component for our members, business community, policy makers and non-accountants for greater success in their careers, businesses and contribute to policy making.
The theme for the 45th National Conference - ‘Marching Beyond Margins’- is apt for the current times. It signifies an embracing of global dynamics, technological advancements, and generational diversity in pursuit of excellence. The goal of the conference is to encourage participants to look beyond traditional boundaries and reach greater heights.
Knowing the world we live in is only winning part of the battle in this struggle for survival in a volatile economic backdrop. We are required to know the way to use technological advancements to our greater benefit and professional advancements. We must not also forget that knowing the generation that you cater to, is key to adapting and influencing consumer behavior and workplace expectations. Governance in a new world is an exceptional opportunity for those in the accounting profession to act as strategic advisors that ensure organizational resilience amidst global uncertainties.
An event of this magnitude would not be possible without our esteemed sponsors. I would like to thank the continued support from our longstanding sponsors while appreciating the arrival of new sponsors as well for this conference. Generous support of our sponsors has played a pivotal role in making this conference a reality.
Looking forward to your presence at the Monarch Imperial this October for impactful thought leadership sessions at our 45th National Conference – Marching Beyond Margins.
